History

First established in 1782 and known then as P. Mottet et Cie and Cresp. Martinenq. The company went bankrupt in 1914 and was acquired by Eugene Fuchs, who established the company of Fragonard at 20 boulevard Fragonard, Grasse. Changed name to Fragonard in honour of the painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard who lived in Grasse. Eugene Fuchs was responsible for introducing interesting presentations in the 1920s and into the 1940s.

Fragonard creates and manufactures high-class fragrances and other well-known perfume houses e.g. 'Blue Grass' for Elizabeth Arden.

Jasmin is the re-branded fragrance 'Ramsès Lotus Sacre', Presented in a flacon by Cristalleries de Baccarat. In 1925 it was presented in a bakelite bust of Fragonard.

Xanadu is the re-branded fragrance 'Myosotis'. Presented in a Cristalleries de Nancy bottle as well as a standard one by C Depinoix et Fils.

Xmas'E was presented in a bottle designed by Henri Saumont. Orchidee is the re-branded fragrance Xmas'E.

The perfume Xmas Morn was created for usage by other companies.

Gamine was presented in a bottle by Verrières Brosse.

Alfred Roc was presented in a figural bakelite penguin designed by Alain S Ogan. Roc, this is the re-branded fragrance 'Alfred Roc'. Presented as a solid, shaped as a penguin.

Tiarella was presented in an anodized gold carboy styled bottle.

Reve Indien is their version of Shalimar by Guerlain.

Le Cinq de Fragonard is their version of Chanel No. 5 by Chanel.

Murmure is their version of Opium by Yves Saint Laurent.

Moment Vole is their other version of Shalimar by Guerlain.
